3 Mistakes Online Marketers Make

What I am about to share with you is what I have experienced in my 15 years I have had an online business. I have made these mistakes and still do so even today. It’s OK to make mistakes, but learn from those mistakes. Don’t keep repeating them and expect a different outcome. These are in no particular order.

  1. Try to do more than one business opportunity at a time
  2. Not Building a List
  3. Giving Up

Do these sound familiar to you? Are you making these same mistakes? It is easy to put out information saying do this or don’t do that. I see a lot of people talking about these things, but then never putting them in to practice. I have been guilty of all of the above. I have to keep a reminder on my computer that tells me to stay focused. Let’s take a closer look at each one of these.

Trying To Do To Much

Are you a person who joins every new product launch that comes out each day? It’s hard not to when you have 100 different marketers telling you to join this opportunity and join that opportunity. When I first got started back in 2002 I fell for the same trap. I was joining 5 different opportunities a day. There is no way you can put enough attention into an opportunity to produce any real results if you are joining a new biz op everyday.

Focus on one business opportunity at a time and do the work that is required for you to achieve a result. Rarely does it happen right away. Most businesses take nurturing.

Not Building A List

How many times have you been told the money is in the list? I could tell you till I am blue in the face and most won’t even try. I will tell you it’s the number 1 thing you should do if you are trying to make money online. It is so important.

Building a list is not that difficult. Maintaining that list is and that’s where most people fail. Why is it that way? It takes work. Most people say it is too hard. They don’t get it and never will. When you have a list that you have built a relationship with, you can go to that list and tell them about what you are doing and get people interested in your business.

What you don’t want to do is build a list and constantly bombard them with offer after offer, especially if you haven’t taken the time to build a relationship with them. The easiest way to start building a list is to give them something of value that would make them want to fill out your option form. Then provide them with useful information.

Giving Up

Don’t give up. I see people join a business, work on it for a day or two and give up because they did not see immediate results. There is no instant gratification. Do whatever it takes to learn as much as you can about the business and test. Your going to have to spend money. There is no way around it. The business that make me money are the ones I have invested time and money in.

There is an inherent risk in any business you take part in. You need to find a way to best mitigate that risk. Find a strategy that works. If you’re not sure how to become successful in the business, find someone who is and follow them. Learn everything you can from them and then put that knowledge into action.

I am still learning everyday about my business. I attend webinars and follow other people who are successful so I can learn what they are doing and put it into action.
